Francis Taylor Building appoints head of chambers

Despite the role changes, both Tait and Bird will continue in full-time practice from FTB

Francis Taylor Building (FTB) has announced that Simon Bird QC has been elected as head of chambers, effective 10 January 2022.

In his new role, Bird takes over from Andrew Tait QC, who steps down after having served as head of chambers since 2012.

Meanwhile, both Tait and Bird will reportedly continue in full-time practice from FTB.

Tait said: “I am delighted that Simon has agreed to take over as head of chambers. It has been a privilege to have served in the post for the past ten years and I look forward with confidence to chambers’ continuing success under Simon’s leadership.”

Bird added: “Andrew has deftly managed chambers for the past decade and it is testament to his qualities and skills as a leader that he was asked to serve for an extended period.

“Despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, he stands down at a time when chambers is more successful than at any time in its history. Chambers is very grateful for Andrew’s leadership.”
