Dominic Griffiths to lead Mayer Brown’s London office

He represents banks and financial institutions across a ‘broad spectrum’ of domestic and international financing transactions and is ‘widely recognised’ as a leading asset based lending and structured finance lawyer

Dominic Griffiths has been appointed the next managing partner of Mayer Brown’s London office, effective 1 January 2022.

Griffiths succeeds Sally Davies who, having held the position since July 2017, will focus on her role as a member of Mayer Brown’s eight-lawyer global Management Committee.

According to the firm, Griffiths joined Mayer Brown as a partner in 2005 and has served as co-leader of the firm’s global banking and finance practice since 2014.

He represents banks and financial institutions across a “broad spectrum” of domestic and international financing transactions and is “widely recognised” as a leading asset based lending and structured finance lawyer.

As the firm’s graduate recruitment partner in London, Griffiths is “active” in leading the search for new trainees. He is a long-time advocate for diversity and inclusion, and originated Mayer Brown’s adoption of a blind CV interviewing policy for trainee applicants.

The firm also said Griffiths currently serves as a trustee of The Unicorn Theatre and a director of the One Million Mentors program in the UK.

Jon Van Gorp, global chair of Mayer Brown, said: “Dom’s appointment is great news for the London office. He is a talented leader, whose unique skills combine great knowledge of the firm, our clients and the London market. I am confident that he will build on Sally’s work to ensure that we continue to thrive.”

Griffiths added: “It is a privilege to be entrusted to lead the London office. The outstanding teamwork and the range of excellence amongst our lawyers and business services professionals is one of our most distinguishing qualities.”
