Mishcon de Reya has received confirmation of its “successful” reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, in line with a target review process that was carried out by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The law firm is now listed among over 2,000 other companies across a range of sectors, taking action towards science-based targets in the move towards a zero-carbon economy.
Mishcon de Reya said the SBTi’s review and listing of its 1.5 degrees C carbon emission target was in line with its own climate change strategy.
It added that part of its commitment to becoming a net zero carbon business and achieving the “most ambitious aims” of the Paris Agreement is now reflected in the SBTi review, confirming it is on track to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees C.
It said: “The firm is achieving this milestone through a three-step approach: Reduce, Capture, Catalyse. Mishcon de Reya’s inclusion on SBTi’s list demonstrates that we will successfully reduce our emissions by 4.2% annually for the next 10 years, to reach the 1.5 degrees C reduction goal.”
SBTi is supported by a partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
