International law firm CMS is strengthening its Corporate practice with the addition of two new partners in its London office.

Financial Services M&A partner Emma Clark and Private Equity partner Edward Holmes have joined the firm, bringing the group’s partner count to 79 in the UK.

The partners are supported by a team of over 1,000 corporate lawyers globally. Clark and Holmes have joined from Linklaters and Clifford Chance, respectively.

Victoria Henry, co-head of the Corporate group at CMS UK, said: “We are delighted to kick off the new year with the arrival of Emma and Edward.

“Our corporate financial services and private equity teams have delivered a number of high-profile transactions over the last year and having Emma and Ed on board will greatly enhance our ability to service these transactions. Financial services and private equity are two key growth areas for the firm and will play an important role in the future of the practice.”

Dipesh Santilale, head of the CMS UK financial services transactions team, added: “We are very excited to welcome Emma to the team. With her focus on financial services M&A, strategic transformational change and complex carve out transactions both in the UK and internationally, we believe there are many opportunities for her to develop her practice together with our corporate and regulatory specialists.

“Emma is also passionate about D&I initiatives and the mentoring and coaching of female associate talent, something which is very much at the heart of CMS.”

Jason Zemmel, head of the CMS Private Equity team, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted to welcome Ed to the team. His appointment is testament to the excellent work that we have been undertaking for our clients over the last twelve months and provides further evidence of our commitment to grow our practice and provide additional expertise as we embark on a very exciting 2022.”
