Nelsons strengthens its commercial property team

The two new appointments specialise in several areas of commercial property work, such as development, landlord and tenant matters, sales and acquisitions

East Midlands-based law firm Nelsons has welcomed two new senior associates to its growing commercial property team.

Liam Wilkinson has joined the Nottingham office, while Amjad Sheikh is based in Leicester, together they have worked in law firms across the region for more than 12 years.

The firm said Wilkinson has more than nine years of experience, having worked at Fraser Brown Solicitors and Knights plc between 2012 and 2021. Meanwhile, Sheikh joins Nelsons after previously working with Sydney Mitchell LLP and Freeths LLP for just under five years. They both specialise in several areas of commercial property work, such as development, landlord and tenant matters, sales and acquisitions.

Wilkinson said: “What drew me to Nelsons was its excellent reputation for staff wellbeing, the way it nurtures its employees and rewards ambitious people. Nelsons is renowned for its excellent work in commercial property, as well as other areas of law, and I am pleased to be joining such a forward-thinking firm at a time where all three of its offices are growing.

“I’m also excited to bring existing client to Nelsons and look forward to working with both them and new clients.”

Sheikh added: “Joining Nelsons was the perfect career move for me. Having spent time at the firm when I was a trainee solicitor, I already knew that it was a well-run law firm that would provide me with the opportunities to progress in my role and build on my existing skills.

“Commercial property law appealed to me because it puts me in contact with a wide range of different people and organisations. I really enjoy negotiating and obtaining the desired results and look forward to empowering my clients in the months and years to come.”

Riaz Dudhia, partner and head of the commercial property team, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Liam and Amjad to the team.

“One of the key attributes we look for in a potential employee is being a team player, so it’s great to see both of them hitting the ground running, settling into the department quickly and building a strong rapport with colleagues and clients from day one.”
