‘Unacceptable’ court delays must be tackled, warns Law Society

Its warning comes as the Public Accounts Committee has published a report questioning the UK government’s ‘meagre ambition’ of cutting the number of outstanding Crown Court cases to 53,000

Widespread and rapid investment is reportedly needed to ensure there is capacity in the criminal justice system to tackle the current courts backlog and delays, the Law Society of England and Wales has warned. 

Its warning comes as the Public Accounts Committee has published a report questioning the UK government’s “meagre ambition” of cutting the number of outstanding Crown Court cases to 53,000.
