Mishcon expands real estate finance practice with new partner hire

Sepúlveda’s fluency in Spanish and expansive network across Europe, the US and Latin America means she is well-placed to advise on deals with an international element

Mishcon de Reya has broadened its real estate finance team with the appointment of Reed Smith’s Francisca Sepúlveda on 27 September 2021.

It revealed Sepúlveda’s practice focuses primarily on the real estate finance market, advising funds, family offices and financial institutions on investment and development financing and debt restructurings, as well as loan sale and purchase transactions.

According to the firm, Sepúlveda has “broad” experience advising on syndicated and bilateral facilities, senior/mezzanine structures and debt trades across a “wide range” of asset classes.

In addition, the firm has said she trained with Taylor Wessing, qualifying in 2005 before moving to Allen and Overy in 2008.

Nick Strutt, Mishcon’s head of real estate finance, said: “Fran’s breadth and depth of experience on the lending side means that she will be able to hit the ground running, expanding on our existing work with debt fund and non-bank lenders in particular, and perfectly complementing our finance practice and wider real estate team.”

Sepúlveda added: “Mishcon de Reya has an impressive real estate finance department, with excellent synergies to my own finance practice. I’m really excited to collaborate with Nick and the team to broaden the firm’s real estate finance offering.”
