39 Essex Chambers has announced the appointment of Samuel Burrett and Scarlett Milligan as tenants.
Burrett joins from Pump Court Chambers and he will practise across a range of the chambers’ civil liability work, with a particular focus on personal injury, clinical negligence, insurance fraud, commercial, sports, costs and inquiry matters.
He has also worked as a caseworker for Advocate, where he assisted litigants who were unable to privately fund their representation and were ineligible for legal aid.
Meanwhile, Milligan joins from Temple Garden Chambers and she has also been appointed to the Attorney General’s C Panel of Counsel.
She has particular expertise in civil claims for negligence, personal injury, and other tortious wrongdoing, as well as in public law, inquests and inquiries.
Additionally, her inquest and inquiry work has been recognised in the leading legal directories.
Both Burrett and Milligan are currently instructed as junior counsel to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
Lindsay Scott, chief executive of 39 Essex Chambers, said: “We are delighted to welcome Scarlett and Sam and feel very lucky to have attracted them. Both come to us with very well-established practices and they will add to the strength and depth of our Civil Liability and Public Law groups.”
